Over the past few weeks, I had a chance to meet with four energetic volunteer coordinators at nonprofits based in Antigua, Guatemala, with programs all over the country. For the next few posts I’d like to share some of their thoughts with you on volunteers and volunteering.
I started out each interview asking, “What type of volunteer opportunities does your organization provide?” The broad range of answers I heard is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of volunteer offerings in Guatemala.

• Housing construction
• Teaching assistants and library support
• English-Spanish translation
• Health clinic – doctors
Stefan Ege, Operations Manager at Constru Casa

• Short-term housing construction
• Volunteer coordination
• Researcher
• Financial assistant
• Translation (English-Spanish-Dutch)
