Guatemalan Soul Journey

Who am I?

I am a dreamer. I am a star. I am a tree standing tall. I am a sunflower blooming. I am the sun and the clouds. I am a flowing river. I am walking beauty. I am ever changing.

I am intuition. I am spirit. I am wind. I am a soul on a journey…

My soul journey can best be described as a winding path or better yet a flowing river with many rocks. Returning to my home in Guatemala City after a three-week intensive 200 hour yoga teacher training course at the Mystic Yoga Farm on the shores of Lake Atitlan, I am reminded that my journey is just beginning- the journey into myself.

One lifetime holds many journeys. Four years ago I boarded a plane to Guatemala, in search of respite from the storm- the storm of life. I was on a journey to find my path. I was searching for more. What I found was so beautiful. A place in many ways untouched by ideals of the material world; where mystic beauty still reigned. The ocean became my refuge, the hammock my surrender, and the sky my endless possibilities. I made a promise to myself to return to give back to a place that had given so much to me in such a short period of time.

And this is where I find myself after four years: a down-home Southern girl born and bred in Louisiana, living in the middle of Guatemala City working on creative ideas for G22, an organization created to promote environmental education.

I am a visionary who is learning to follow the flow of the river of life. With my intuition as my compass, I am finding my way back to my passion for mind-body-spirit approaches. Starting with meditation and continuing with yoga the possibilities are endless. Transformation is possible with each step of the way.

This new journey of writing will sure to be liberating. I hope to share with you- my audience- the insights on my Guatemalan journey as I connect the dots and venture into the unknown. In this way, we can take a journey together to discover how we are more alike than different, more connected than disconnected, and more extraordinary than ordinary.
